Ryburn Class

Wednesday 17th July

Ryburn have come to the end of their topic all about 'Bread'. We designed our own loaf, thinking carefully about the ingredients we could add and when it would be best to add them. We made some very creative bread and they looked and smelled amazing!!

Thursday 11th July

This week we visited Leeds Cathedral. We listened to a wonderful concerted played on the church organ and then had a go at playing a special musical instrument called a WOOFYT! There is only one in the world so we feel very lucky to have had a go!

Thursday 24th May 2019

Over the last few math lessons, Ryburn have been working hard on measuring angles. They have been using protractors to accurately measure a range of angles, including acute, obtuse and right angles as well as reflex angles! They have really been enjoying it- even if it has been a little tricky!

Friday 17th May

This week Ryburn had an amazing time in Whitby. The weather was amazing which enabled us to spend plenty of time on the beach, exploring the town and the abbey. We all had a fantastic time!

Here are just a few of out pictures!

Thursday 9th May 2019

Today, despite the weather, the children all took part in a scooter safety session. They learnt how to check their scooter is safe before riding on it, how to cross a road and of course had loads of fun maneuvering round obstacles in the playground.

Thursday 25th March 2019

This week Ryburn have been dissecting plants to look at their different parts. We looked closely at how these different parts are used to reproduce and create new plants.

Thursday 14th March 2019

This week we have come to an end of our work on fractions. The children were set a challenge involving: converting improper fractions to mixed numbers, simplifying fractions and measuring amounts accurately to create lava lamps.

Thursday 7th February 2019

Ryburn have enjoyed creating their own wake-up, shake-up routines over the past couple of weeks in PE. Together, we have looked at linking moves, listening to the beat of the music, and most importantly working together to create some amazing routines!

Thursday 24th of January 2019

Over the past few weeks, in English, we have been busy writing persuasive brochures all about North America. To help us sell the location to our readers, we had to do lots of research about the amazing places and activities you could do there, as well as finding interesting vocabulary and using persuasive features!

Friday 16th of November 2018

Today year 5 have enjoyed a visit from some local firefighters. They talked to the children about fire safety, explaining how they could create an evacuation plan in the event of a fire. Unfortunately, they were called out to a fire during our talk so had to leave quickly!

Thursday 11th October 2018

With only one week to go till until our performance of Julius Caesar, we are working hard in rehearsals. We are extremely excited about performing next week and we can't wait for you to see it!

Thursday 27th September 2018

In our science topic this half term we are learning all about Earth and space. This week we have focused on the Earth's orbit around the sun and created models to help us understand this.
