Virtual West Yorkshire School Games Sports Day

Letter from Mrs Mallett

We have entered the West Yorkshire Schools Virtual Sports Day on July 7th. From school and home we are going to compete as Valley View against schools from Leeds, Bradford, Kirklees and Wakefield. This is a fantastic opportunity to show off our sports skills and have some fun too. Many local schools are competing so we want to show our best!

For children at home the event starts with a presentation at 10am on Tuesday 7th July which will introduce the day and the activities. You can view this any time after 10 am to suit you.  During the day the children take part in up to 4 competitive challenges and one for fun, aiming to score as many points for Valley View as they can. You don’t need any special equipment, a rolled up pair of socks will be fine! Some of the challenges may be tricky for our younger children so please adapt them if you need to. We have put some suggestions for this on the website. If your child is in Reception – Year 6, once they have completed the challenges you need to register their scores on the website by 12pm on Wednesday 8th July. You will not be asked to give your child’s name, only the school name.  If your child is in Nursery they are welcome to join in the event and tell us how they got on Tapestry but they will not be expected to enter a score online.

Children in school will complete the same challenges over Monday and Tuesday. The children will compete individually within their bubbles, aiming to raise as many points for Valley View as possible.  Each child will be given their own set of school equipment to use. The children’s scores will then be registered online and added to the scores from the children at home.

Our school total will then be entered into the competition. We need everybody to contribute! There are prizes for the winning schools and also prizes for the schools with the most entries and schools showing lots of passion.  Please get involved, every point will count!

Please see below for the competition details including how to register your scores and how to watch the presentation.

Please be honest and fair and compete well with true Valley View spirit.

Come on Valley View we get a huge score if we all work together!

Thanks

Mrs Mallett
